Twenty-foot ceilings and doors that open straight onto the pool.

The brief

This one came from friends of the Two Trees clients. The house was just finished and it was beautiful, and the room they had in mind for the gym had twenty-foot ceilings and huge French doors that opened straight out to the pool, lined up on it. Great views and a huge open space.

Both of them were thirty-five at the time and at an elite level of fitness. It is a big part of what they do and they look the part. So the gym had to live up to that, which is its own kind of pressure.

They were down for whatever I wanted to put in, which is rare. It is also why this room has pieces in it we had never used before. Twenty feet of ceiling will take equipment most houses cannot, and if you have it you should use it.
